ServiceOntario Introduces One-Stop Shopping
for Health Cards and Driver’s Licences

Ontarians will soon enjoy faster, friendlier and easier access to more of the government services they need.

Over the next 18 months, ServiceOntario is making it easier for people with one-stop shopping. Health card and driver’s licence renewals with be integrated under one roof at 300 ServiceOntario centres across the province.

Renewing health cards and driver’s licences in one place will save customers time, money and gas.

“Ontarians expect government to spend their tax dollars wisely to provide the excellent service they need and deserve.  ServiceOntario is integrated services and locations to make things fast, friendly and easy for people,” said Harinder Takhar, Minister of Government Services.

Broad access to health card services will improve from 27 OHIP offices to all 300 integrated ServiceOntario centres.  Access to driver and vehicle services will improve from 260 locations to all 300 integrated centres.

In rural communities, access to health card services will expand from 2 to 163 ServiceOntario centres, while access to driver and vehicle services will expand from 158 to 163 centres.  In northern communities, access to health card services will expand from 6 to 67 Service centres, while driver and vehicle services will expand from 55 to 67 centres.

“People are busier than ever,” Minister Takhar concludes. “Expectations for improved government service are clearly higher, and ServiceOntario will meet and exceed those expectations.”
