MGS employees capture Amethyst Awards

Congratulations are due to several employees of the Ministry of Government Services (MGS) who have received Amethyst Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements by Ontario’s public servants.

These peer-nominated awards, established in 1992, are given annually to teams or individuals who have distinguished themselves by their efforts to improve public service delivery, save time and money through better use of technology, or display exceptional professionalism and care in performing their duties.

This year’s MGS award winners included the premium online service project team at the Office of the Registrar General, who successfully expanded access to emergency services for birth, marriage and death certificates to an online service available to all Ontario citizens with a money-back guarantee.

An Amethyst award also went to the project team for BizPaL, an innovative web-based service allowing business owners to easily generate a customized list of business permits and licences required from all levels of government.
