The Transition to e-Government
By applying I&IT strategically to all areas of government activities where it makes sense, the government will provide its customers with seamless, efficient and effective service and provide better value to Ontario taxpayers. Our goal is to ensure that Ontario is the best place to live, learn, work, do business and visit.
Through the transition to e-Government, the province of Ontario is:
- making more strategic use of Information and Information Technology (I&IT) throughout the Ontario Public Service (OPS) and in the broader public sector (such as education and health)
- implementing government-wide I&IT initiatives to support the people and businesses in Ontario
Since 1998, the province has been building the foundations for e-Government in Ontario. Key building blocks for e-Government have been put in place to bring about significant improvement in the government’s I&IT capacity.
Building Block 1: The Information and Information Technology (I&IT) Strategy
Constructed on the foundation established by the I&IT Strategy are three other e-Government building blocks:
Building Block 2: An electronic service delivery strategy has allowed the development of a range of electronic services for citizens and businesses to make the Ontario government a world leader in delivering services online.
Building Block 3: A series of initiatives to transform major public-sector systems, such as justice, health and education, to improve outcomes for the public.
Building Block 4: The e-Government Strategy
We are building a better government by improving the way we do business. By improving service delivery we give our customers seamless, efficient and effective service and provide better value to Ontario taxpayers.
