Weekend getaways for parent heroes
Minister of Children and Youth Services Deb Matthews attended the launch of a new program from Tourism Toronto designed to help parents of kids with special needs get a much-deserved break.
Every weekend two families of children with special needs in the GTA will have a chance to relax and indulge at some of Toronto’s top hotels, theatre shows, sports events, attractions and restaurants on three-day getaways provided by Toronto’s tourism industry.
The launch took place at Safehaven, a residential and respite care facility in Toronto. The Minister chatted with some of the residents and with one of the first families as they got ready to leave for their weekend getaway.
