What is fetal alcohol spectrum disorder? Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder refers to the permanent disabilities affecting the nervous system, physical health and brain development caused by any amount of alcohol use during pregnancy. There are a variety of things that can be done to make life easier and more satisfying for children and youth affected by this disorder, as well as for their parents and caregivers.
